Whangapoua Bach
PROJECT COST
220K
The client asked for a simple form contemporary design. It is a classic NZ bach taking inspiration from the rugged coastline of the Coromandel Peninsula with its two opposing mono pitch roof forms.
Designed for a couple with an adult family this Whangapoua beach retreat was a dream realized from a wish list the client had which contained a detailed breakdown of room sizes, types, uses and the lifestyle they wanted to live. We listened to their requirements and put the finishing touches together to create a stunningly simple architecturally designed home.
The kitchen is the core of the house and central to the design with a large internal private deck and courtyard opening off it for alfresco dining and living in all seasons. A two way fireplace into the main living space compliments this idea.
A separate bedroom wing with its own living room was designed as a space that could be closed off when the couples were there alone.
Not without those small luxuries in life, an outdoor bathing area was included as part of an interior/exterior ensuite to compliment the large master bedroom.
