Bindon Design Group was asked to design a contemporary family home for a family of four people plus guest accommodation that would enable the best use of the site location. With 180 degree sea vistas and great street appeal the concept was evolved from two intersecting recta linear forms stretching east to west on the site.
The design needed to encapsulate good design principles allowing for indoor / outdoor flow and large entertaining areas. Children’s rooms needed to be accessible to a large media room / games room and also the outdoors. As the home is close to the beach access to shower facilities and the back yard also became important.
A home office was required which was accessible to the front entry of the home and the three car garage. A large master bed rounded out the top level of the home with a large Wrightian cantilevered roof providing a sheltered deck off the Master bed, an area for Mum and Dad to enjoy as place of refuge.
