Green House
Sited one block back from the road this contemporary villa in Northcote was a functional experiment in space, mass and light. The brief was for a contemporary three bedroom residential home tightly positioned between a large mature Oak and a Pohutakawa with distinctive apertures to the Harbour bridge and the skytower beyond. To achieve this within the context of the surrounding streetscape was the challenge. The solution was a light filled atrium stretching through two floors of living with axis serving the four quarters of the plan. Claddings resulted in selections based on local characteristics, including timber weatherboards, shadowclad, glass and coloursteel.
